The world we all live in seems to revolve around money. It shouldnt, but it does at least a majority of the time. So with that topic in mind, I thought we could talk about money, and having a plan.
Its not a surprise when we hear something like: Money is the number one argument that leads to divorce. Or just that money is the number one arguing topic. Period. But it doesnt have to be.
To make this blog a little more personable, I thought I would share some of my struggles. When I was in my early twenties, I ended up losing a job and racking credit card debt along with other problems. I went into collections over and over and never found a way out. I ended up being homeless at one point and couldnt afford car insurance either. I was driving around, broke, uninsured and afraid of what might happen next. My credit score tanked into the low 500 range, and I was pretty much miserable and without hope.
So what changed?
I did. How I viewed money, how I treated money, and also my knowledge of money all changed and allowed me to grow and morph myself into someone that knows an awful lot more now than I could ever dream. (And I still have a lot to learn!)
To cut this short, my credit score is now in the mid 800 range. I have money in the bank. I drive a somewhat expensive Lease that I dont pay for on a month to month basis and a 20-year adjustable rate mortgage that will be paid off in about 12-years or less. A retirement plan that grows every month, oh and lets not forget little to no credit card debt Things sure have changed.
First I had to get Ready. I needed to realize where my flaws were and are, and then admit that I needed help in figuring it out. You dont think I accomplished the above on my own, do you?
Then I had to Aim. I needed to see where I had to be and the steps to get there (which were not overnight at all).
And last, I had to Fire. Knowing the plan, I needed just to do it. I had no guarantees of anything, (were not even guaranteed tomorrow) but I had to try.
I dont know where you are with your financial planning. But I hope you have a plan, and if you dont, I hope you find one that suits you. We cant all be astronauts or brain surgeons but we can all have a plan that helps us not lose our minds when it comes to grasping the concept of money.
And for the record. I certainly am not using this blog to brag about anything. There are plenty of people out there that can toot their horn much louder. But I figured that writing about myself would be the best and most honest way to approach this topic. My bills are paid each month without concern, and there is always food on the table and clothes on our backs. It used to be hard, but I made it easy you can too.
If anyone reading this would like more information about how I got there, and what steps I use now to keep my family and me financially stable please message me so we can talk about it.
And dont forget to Ready. Aim. Fire!
