There is a rapid increase in market share of Chinese phone across the globe. Companies like Oppo, Vivo and Xiaomi holds 48% of market share altogether worldwide. Whereas Samsung and Apple continue to hold their top spots. Here is the list of top 10 smartphone brands across the globe.
1)Samsung: - Samsung tops the market with a market share of 22% in 2017. Its shipment has recorded a marginal growth of 4% during the quarter. The average selling price of Samsung smartphones has increased due to strong shipment of Galaxy S8 and S8+ devices.
2)Apple: - Apple is at no. 2. As per the research, it holds the market share of 11.2% globally. The companys share has fallen marginally in the Q2 of the year 2016 when it held 11.3% share. But earlier this week the company had reported a solid increase in iPhone and iPad sales.
3)Huawei: - Chinese smartphone brand Huawei is at no. 3. Emerging market have played an important role in the companys growth worldwide. In China, Huawei retained its top spot during the second quarter. The companys Nova and Enjoy series, along with flagship P10 witnessed a strong demand in the country.
4)Oppo: - With a market share of 8.4% globally Oppo holds the 4th position. It has an impressive growth in India, but it has a strong market outside China
5)Vivo: - 5th largest brand globally, this smartphone company holds the market share of 6.6%. Sold on the proposition of its selfie cameras this company witnessed a strong growth in the Indian market.
6)Xiaomi: - It has emerged as the fastest growing brand year-on-year (+60%) surpassing its home rivals Vivo (+45%) and Oppo (+33%). The duo were the fastest growing brands in the previous quarter. As a matter of fact Xiaomi shipped 23.2 million smartphones, capturing 6.6% market share of the global smartphones market in Q2 2017. The companys latest flagship Mi6 and low tier models Redmi Note 4 have played a strong role.
7)LG: - The South Korean smartphone brand LG is at no. 7. The company registered 13.3 million smartphones in Q2 2017 with a strong performances in Asia and Europe. However its shipment has declined 4% annually. Even in North America its shipment declined sequentially.
8)ZTE: - It was the 8th largest brand which captured 3.3% of the market share.
9)Lenovo (Including Motorola): - Lenovo continue to face a tough competition in markets like India and LATAM. It still holds on to its market share of 3.2% during the quarter which is the same as in Q2-2016.
10)Alcatel: - Holding its position at no. 10, company witnessed a decline in its market share in the second quarter of previous year. The company held 1.3% market share globally in Q2 2017 as compared to 2.1% during the same quarter last year.
