The United States acquired independence from the British Empire in 1776. As for July Fourth marks the birth of America, the American Independence Day is also known as the Fourth of July. It was on this day, 1776, that the thirteen colonies of America declared themselves to be states of a new nation after their long war with Britain.
The founding father Thomas Jefferson drafted the announcement of emancipation over the acceptance of The Declaration of Independence. The celebration of one year anniversary of the Independence Day took place on Rhode Island on July 4, 1777. Thirteen gunshots were fired to mark the liberation of each of the thirteen original colonies.
The day which as initially an unpaid holiday was then made a paid holiday since 1938. The Fourth of July is considered to be a huge celebration across the country with parties, parades, family reunions and other events taking place throughout. The government officials deliver speeches while the white house displays special show on its South Lawn. Fireworks are one of the most common and inevitable ways to celebrate Independence Day. So, today, as the United States celebrates its 241st anniversary, let us all wish the country a very Happy Independence Day.
