Every week we flock to multiplexes for to watch some masala-packed mainstream Bollywood flick like Singham, Dabangg or any other movie with similar not-so-smart name. Strangely enough we are content with those movies. And why won't we be? They have actors/actresses which we blindly follow, lots of catchy one liners and gravity-defying action packed climaxes. Now moving a bit away from these mainstream Bollywood movies, there's a whole other part to Bollywood which is still hidden away from most. It's a completely different world where, there are (mostly)no popular actors, no senseless climaxes and they reflect the reality of our society. Between the regular, expensively-marketed and star-studded films that we are eagerly waiting for, every now and then, there comes some quality cinema which brings the sanity back to our life. And it's not that Bollywood are making just a few of such high-quality movies, it's just that we don't get to hear about them because they cannot afford such costly marketing as the mainstream movies do.Some of these movies are made with such brilliance that they receive fame at international level like the Cannes Film Festival. One of such movies is 'Masaan'. The movie revolves around two different characters named Devi(Richa Chadha) and Deepak(Vicky kaushal), having different storylines. Devi has to deal with the guilt she feels for the death of her boyfriend and Deepak falls in love with a high-caste girl while he belongs to the family that burns the dead bodies at a crematorium(Masaan). The film is very blunt in showing the caste based inequalities that exists in our society along with the corruption. To add to this list we have Ankho Dekhi(2013), Titli(2015), Ship of Theseus(2013) and many more of those unheard movies. So sit for a movie marathon and kick-start your week by kicking away the Monday blues .
