Do you ever have one of those low days when you feel like the whole world keeps on moving further and you are stagnant? Like a big rock in the middle of a river, where water is continuously crashing into it from all sides but it won't even move an inch. Like everyone is going ahead towards a specific purpose and you are just lost among that crowd, not able to figure out in which direction to proceed. I have them more often than not.
By the time I graduated with an engineering degree instead of feeling excited and free, I felt burdened. I had lot of self-imposed expectations to be met. After all I am an engineer and as per world's standards I need to make something out of myself, get a great job and earn well. I always felt that engineering wasn't a thing for me to be good at. And now due to all those expectations I have, I wasn't able to function properly. Eventually I became depressed, frustrated and disappointed at myself.
As staying low did me no good I looked up for ways to change that. I realized out of all the above mentioned miserable things the worst of it was to become stagnant. So I decided to move on with it and start exploring my options.
If we let expectations rule our life, we set ourselves up for disappointment. The most important thing is to release all those expectations about how life should be and approach from a place of exploration. This gives us exposure and experience. We need to put a little bit trust on ourselves that we are guided to the right direction, towards a beautiful destination. Plus, doesn't exploring seem like much more fun than expecting?
So trust that little voice inside you a bit more, judge yourself a little less and believe that you are exactly where you need to be. Phew!
