There's a very common misconception floating around that the more you work the more efficient you get. But what if I tell you that's not true? Let's see how.
Right from our childhood, we have been doing repetitive works such as cramming up for exams. In such tasks, the more time you spend remembering stuff, the more you will learn. But growing up, the nature of the work which we have to do now is not the same as before. Suppose, you are in a Sales sector in some company. You need to spend your time understanding the nature of your clients as well as developing your own aptitude. So these tasks are not repetitive.
Brain is just like any other muscle in our body. It will wear out after some time and thus the efficiency will keep reducing. The amount of work done in the first two hours will be the same as the amount of work done in the last six, sometimes even less.
We need to understand this and schedule our work accordingly. Coding eight straight hours would only lead to tonnes of errors in the code. Therefore, debugging the code will become actually more difficult than the actual coding. See how you gave yourself about three more hours of work-load? Eventually you will have to come at office on Saturdays and then crib about it.
Rather being a workaholic and increasing the burden for yourself, you should take a break and let your mind get refreshed. Then, hopefully you would be able to enjoy your Saturdays.
