One of the known stories of Egypt is the A ghost story. Or Khonesemhab and the ghost. The details of the story and the precision of the story is not sure. The narrator of the story is also not known whether it is in first person or third person. There are several views of the story.
One says that it is narrated by a speaker who spends the night in the necropolis at Thebes. Later he is haunted by an angry spirit at the night. He gets petrified by the ghost and approaches a priest named Khonesamhab for help.
It is said that then the story moves to the narration of Khonesamhab who later calls the spirit and decides to find peace for the spirit. As he calls upon the spirit, he introduces himself and assures him that he can do anything for the soul to rest in peace. The ghost informs him that his name is Nebusemekh. He tells that he is revealed to the winds and is starved without any food. The ghost also informs that his tomb is disturbed and that is the main cause for all this.
Khonesamhab assures the ghost that he will build a new tomb for him but if he failed to do the same he will send 5 men servants and 5 women servants with food every day for him.
The ghost disappears after that but Khonesamhab keeps up his promise and sends his men to find the tomb. His men return with an astonishing news that they find the 25 cubits along the kings causeway. He is pleased with the news and celebrates with the men and afterward summons an official to tell him about the project.
The story ends with the line "He returned in the evening to sleep in the Ne and him..." but the end of this story is lost. There is no particular ending for this story. The "Ne" in the line refers to the necropolis at Thebes. It is said that he calls back the spirit to inform him about the good news and tell him that he finally fulfilled his wish.
