You know how in all the movies, the girl is an introvert and basically invisible but somehow gets noticed by the popular guy. She goes to all the parties, makes tons of new friends, tells the queen bee off and basically transforms into a new person.
Yeah, that doesn't happen in real life. If you're an introvert, chances are you'll pass through school without anyone noticing you; you'll have a close group of select friends and that's it. There is no drama or action in your life no matter what Hollywood shows.
Growing up an introvert means practicing for your presentation for a month but still screwing up because you were so nerves in front of so many people, it means practicing what to say before calling anyone, it means being scared of going out because there are so many people there.
Growing up an introvert means that music is your solace and never leaving the house without earphones, books are your best friends as they take you to a universe where there is an adventure and where you aren't afraid to go out and make friends.
For some reason, people start calling you a nerd and believe that you, by default, spend all your time online arguing which is better Marvel or DC? And then when you get angry when the movies are totally different from the books, you become an obsessive fan girl.
People often talk about how they would love to be an introvert because they believe what they see in the movies. They believe that being an introvert is easy but its not. Its not easy to be quite because you're really bad at small talk.
In the end, you might be able to overcome your introverted nature but the fear of it will still continue.
