Known as one of the most haunted places in the USA, the Sallie house is located at 508 North Second Street. It looks like an ordinary house from the outside but the events that have taken place inside are a whole different story.
The Sallie House was built between 1867 and 1871 and is a witness to 3 deaths inside it, Michael Finney in 1872, William True in 1918 and Agnes True in 1939. Although these deaths do add to the creepy vibe of the house, the ghost that haunts the place is of a little girl named Sallie.
The haunting started when Debra and Tony Pickman moved into the house on 31st December 1990. It started small with the lights flickering, the dog barking and their baby waking up at odd hours as if someone was playing with him.
The neighbor asked Debra why she always left the lights on in the nursery which came as a shock as Debra was sure that she always closed the lights.
On July 14th, 1993, Debra, Tony and her sister Karan discovered that all the soft toys in the nursery were organized in a circle, back-to-back. They figured that one of them was playing a practical joke so they rearranged the animals, switched off the lights and left. When they came back up they found that the lights were on and a bear was lying on the ground.
They packed up some stuff and left. While leaving, Tony felt a sting and upon inspection discovered that he had 3 scratches down his back. Tony continued to get scratched as time went on and one time even got scratched during a video.
The Pickmans consulted a physic who picked up a presence named Sallie.
On October 31st, 1993, Tony went to get a glass of orange juice. When he turned around he saw a little girl dressed in early 1900s clothing. He drew a picture of the girl for Debra to see. A former resident had a 5-year-old daughter who had an imaginary friend named Sallie. When she was shown the picture, she identified her as the childhood friend.
There were unexpected fires in the house and one time a lamp was thrown at Tonys mom. Tony himself reported hearing scratching behind his bed. The Packman family moved out in 1994.
On further investigation, it was found that a Sallie Isabel Hall did live in the house in 1905 but she was a 34-year-old black lady.
Another family moved into the house and they did not report any paranormal activity. However, on a surprise visit from the landlord, he discovered a large pentagon on the basement floor, an altar, a large black kettle and a black robe. He believed that the tenants were practicing black magic and therefore didnt report any activity.
Till date, there is no explanation as to what happened to Tony in the house. Was is due to the ghost that haunts the place or something else.
