Prince Khaled bin Alwaleed, 38 years old businessman is the only son of philanthropist and billionaire investor Alwaleed bin Talal bin Abdulaziz al Saud, known to the media as the "Arabian Warren Buffett". In his younger years, he followed a luxurious life style, he owned about 200 luxury cars, yachts, enjoyed eating meat, and lived in the family palace.
In the early nineties, he went on a trophy hunting expedition; he was shocked at what he saw. The cruelty that the animals go through haunted him. He called it a 'cowardly' act. Shortly after that, he became an animal rights advocate, opposing blood sports and all forms of cruelty. He also went vegan, which he prefers calling "Plant based diet". Since then, he has been promoting "plant based diet". His father also went vegan recently. He is now investing in opening vegan restaurants across Middle East.
He is also passionate about sustainable living and climate change. He has invested in Solar Panel Factory and hopes that this clean energy will be able to replace fossil fuels in the future. He has installed 100,000 LED lights across Amad Jordan along with solar panels to power them.
While talking about climate change he says "sure, we're hurting the environment, but at the end of the day, we're only hurting ourselves. The environment will get hurt to a certain point and then it's going to backlash on us. Then we're going to be gone and the world is going to go back to being the beautiful, lush place that we were supposed to inhabit".
