The phrase I Love you is written more than a thousand times in 311 different languages. The Wall of I Love Yous is dedicated to lovers from all over the world, a place where declarations of love come together in a multitude of languages!
This wall was created by two artists - Frederic Baron and Claire Kito in the year 1992 as a rendezvous location for lovers and a lasting monument to eternal adoration.
Frederic Baron dreamed about making a trip around the world dedicated to lovers, and he realizes this dream encounters in the streets of Paris.
The phrase I Love You was collected by Frederic Baron in notebooks. He first asked his brother and then his foreign neighbours by knocking on the doors and collected more than 300 languages all expressing the powerful sentiment of love across the globe.
Frederic Baron then asked Claire Kito a calligrapher and mural specialist Daniel Boulogne to transform the texts onto a wall, in which bursts of color represent the pieces of broken heart, the heart of a human so often broken apart and which the wall tries to gather together.
It can be found nestling amongst the greenery in Jehan Rictus square, Place des Abbesses what better place than Montmartre for such a meeting place, right in the heart of Paris, number one city for lovers!
