Writing is hard, really hard. There are no short-cuts or tricks. The only way to improve your writing is through practice. Here are some handful of rules that can help you speed up the process for writing.
1. Write everyday
If its only a single sentence or even if it is a paragraph, write everyday! Perhaps more than any other venture, be consistent in developing yourself as a writer. Set aside a time each day even if it is only 15 minutes to write.
2. Read Every Day
As you start read about anything, note down what you like about certain sentences, paragraphs and also note what you dont like about certain passages and avoid them using in your writing.
3. Dont write and edit at the same time
When you start writing about anything you like, just write. Getting words out of your head and onto the page is hard enough. Dont make it hard by trying to do it gracefully the first time around.
4. Stop while you are ahead
If you have been writing for more than 90 minutes and then again to start again-stop! Trying to force yourself is always worthless. Plus, if you end on a positive note its easier to pick back up on a positive note.
5. Write for yourself first
If you find your writing interesting, odds are you will do a great job writing about it and your readers will find it interesting too.
