First time here, the morning chill of the hill graces you like the mother full of love, overflowing much. The supposed guy shows you the cottage and you, with those tiresome legs and your friends, with the weary eyes can't but wait to seal the deal and catch some sleep. Okay, scene sorted.
Two hours of sleep and the dawn of Kodai makes its way, it says, 'get up, get up fast', you don'thave no choice but come out, rest by the arm chair in the balcony and slowly start to widen thy gaze. You wonder what's happening and widen the gaze more.
Wonder has taken over the eyes and nature has told you a story, the sunrise you saw has made you a poet and you call the friends outside. Speechless like a doll, all of them look into each other, none of them open their mouth, but all of them say WOW! The vibe is set and the trip has started.
Coffee is ordered and the DSLR is out, internet is on and off, who cares though. A quick idea - the phones are off and out. A quick point - being tech disconnected made us all so connected and one with nature, the decision to go minimal with tech for life was made.
Sun plays hide and seek all the time, when its not out all one sees is a pearly white cover over the lush green mountain. One particular mountain doesn't ever gets shadowed by this vivid mist though, its a mystery to me, to this day.
Altaf's cafe sets the tone for the noon and the little trek to Dolphin Nose makes that DSLR friend an absolute genius, every shot is magic, you just need to know how to click. Should we go back to the room, wait some time yo, wait, wait, wait, okay, let's go back in a while.
Quite incapable in describing the wonderful vibes we were feeling, the poet in all of us had a field day, that memorable day. The light passed as we conversed with a few foreign monks - what an incredibly beautiful time those conversations were - global culture, big pharma, the power of now and some non sense.
The night was in, the bonfires were set, the psy trance was ready, hyper local tamtas (drums) too. The magic of being one with nature happened, good friends and worldy wise foreigners and the good food later, the time was 3 am.
The 4 of us were still unslept and saw this man who gave us the room walking around. His tales of the land were so fascinating, we did not realize it would be one more sunrise soon. His name was Selvam, he was such a good man!
We had to leave in the propriety of our careers or we could start a tea shop there. We decided to leave for now and come back soon. Been there some times now, and its always magical how the last time is always the best.
Kodai Haven, beyond its cute and nice architecture, is such a wonderful place, it could make the nomad in you find home and stay put, yes, this place has such divine grace. The food and the way its served is as heavenly too.
P.S - Kodai Haven: Remember the name.
