The world's first Panda Power Plant powered in Datong, China. The people of China really loves its black and white giant pandas and is the inspiration behind a new green energy station helping power the Asian nation.
It is the worlds first panda solar station which has been connected to the grid, covering a total area of 248 acres. It has a capacity of 100 MW when fully connected, providing 3.2 billion kWh of green electricity in 25 years. Thats equivalent to saving more one million tons of coal, or reducing more than two million tons of carbon dioxide emissions.
The Panda Power Plant, a project backed by the United Nations Development Programme , will also play an important role in getting young people to engage with sustainable development.
It also helps young students from China to take participation at the Panda Power Stations, with a target of providing the candidates with deeper knowledge of green energies.
Panda Green Energy is hoping to build panda-shaped power plants in other countries in central and Southeast Asia, too.
The team is planning to grow into countries like Fiji and the Philippines and will build over 100 panda-shaped plants in the next five years. The plants will include motifs inspired by local animals, like the koala or rhinoceros.
